As a photo editor specializing in nature, travel and education, I've worked on magazines, books, marketing materials and websites. Combining my conservation background with my photo professional skills, I've worked for nonprofits such as National Geographic Society, Conservation International, The Nature Conservancy and Smithsonian. I've freelanced extensively for over a dozen clients including Apple, AARP, National Geographic Books and photographers such as Frans Lanting, David Doubilet and Suzi Eszterhas.
I photo edit nature, travel, culture and educational projects, both researching photos that best illustrate text and ensuring selected photos create the most visually dynamic product. Exceptionally organized, I provide business management consulting, whether it be selecting the best 100 photos out of a 30,000 photo assignment or creating workflows to manage image requests. With a great eye for pixels and color, I'm available for photo optimization and retouching, one of my very favorite types of work. Need guidance in entering a photo contest? I've judged many and every photographer I've advised has been awarded.
A diverse and published writer, I not only write but I have an eagle eye for editing and I conceptualize magazine features and see them through from start to finish. Comfortable with InDesign, Premiere and a variety of other multimedia software, with a great eye for layout and timing, I enjoy producing dynamic media. Exceptionally organized, I'm an experienced project manager and can bring efficiency to any project, team or business. Having worked with a National Geographic team to build a multimedia website from the ground up, I am comfortable working within a CMS and website design. Additionally, I can bring organization to any process or database, be it informational, photo or multimedia.
I enjoy contributing my time to a variety of initiatives and my own photography has been published nationally and is held in both museum and private collections. I currently contribute my skills to Ocean Geographic Magazine and Ocean Geographic Society's mission of marine conservation. I'm a member of the American Society of Picture Professionals, North American Nature Photography Association, a founding affiliate to the International League of Conservation Photographers and a board advisor to Sea Save Foundation, Deep Hope and Girls Who Click. I'm honored to have been recently named an Explorers Club Fellow.
I've been a scuba diver since the age of 15 and am convinced I was meant to be a dolphin. Because I can't have a pet dolphin, I instead apply my nurturing instincts to raising orphan newborn kittens. I live in New Jersey, outside of NYC, with my husband and little boy.
